Good to know

Repairs to seals, fittings and float valves are usually completed in the visit. If your tank needs a replacement valve, a new outlet fitting or, in the case of a badly cracked tank, a recommendation to replace the unit, your plumber will set that out clearly and quote any parts separately before proceeding. Where the tank sits high or in a tight roof space, safe access matters, so do mention the location and how it's reached when you book. Note that draining and refilling a tank takes time, especially on low or erratic mains pressure, so the fill test may run longer in some homes. Your payment stays securely held until the work is done to your satisfaction. If anything isn't right, tell us within 24 hours and we'll return to make sure the tank holds, and rescheduling is free up to about two hours before your slot.

FAQs

My tank overflows even when it should be full. Why?

That's almost always the float or ball valve failing to shut off the inlet at the right level. Your plumber will test it and either adjust or replace the valve so the tank stops filling once it reaches capacity.

Can a cracked tank be repaired, or does it need replacing?

It depends on the size and position of the crack. Minor seepage at a joint or fitting can often be sealed, but a tank with structural cracking is usually better replaced. Your plumber will give you an honest assessment and quote any replacement separately.

My tank takes forever to fill. Is that the tank or something else?

It could be the inlet valve, the feed from your borehole or pump, or genuinely low mains pressure. Your plumber will check the whole fill cycle to identify where the hold-up is before recommending a fix.

Can I request the same plumber for future tank maintenance?
